Baloney Entertainment Television

It’s the classic case of excesses. It’s what we do best, take it to the very extreme and beyond.

If you haven’t already guessed- STOP you shouldn’t be reading blogs, you should be in a mental health clinic. Sigh...... read on.

Bhindian Idol, a much hyped, much publicized show went on air 5 months back with a great deal of razzmatazz and glow attached to it. It was of course a copied version of Amrican Idol, a great success. Alright, reality shows aren’t bad and the first few rounds were quite alright, thanks to the popularity of Monu Chingam and the weirdos that we used to see, I can still laugh on them. (Fast forward) audience votes, drama, aman verma and mini mathur screaming out- platinum disc, 1 crore contract aur ek car bhiiiiiiiiiiii, wasting many a half hour shows to announce the coveted Indian Idol- Kabhijeet Shawant. Fantastic choice, the lad’s a good singer, charming personality and all. His album was a hit, he’s getting movie songs, shows, concerts, the works of it. But, strangely neither the country, nor Baloney Entertainment Television seem to get enough of the Final 11. Suddenly, we’re finding out that they’ve become popular, their colony-wallahs love them, well d-uuh!! Strangely though, each and every one of them has bought a new flat in amchi Mumbai and a car and a cellphone and blah blah. We’re subjected to concerts which figure not just these fellas, but the entire cast of all the serials you can muster on the channel.

Which brings me to another topic altogether. No one, I repeat not one soul is willing to step up and say- Step aside Ektaa Kapoor. A lot of us, by choice or by majboori are watching her works, namely soaps- sad, tragic monotonies of some joke of a person- not even close to reality. It’s not that I have something against her, I even admire some of her work, but puhhleez, there is a limit to obsession with rona- dhona, and deaths and apparent shocks AND ‘K’s- all her serials start with K.

The characters and the storyline is ethereal, overly dramatic, especially the background music. Somebody tell her- shift over to comedy or horror, just chuck soaps, there’s enough of them on-air and if in case you run out of shots, you can always show re-runs, everybody’ll still watch it.

We need a quality check, and HOW?

The only good thing on telly left is sports, and don’t even think about cricket, that’s become quite SAD.
today, i am also indulging myself in excesses. Inspired by rhea- 3 posts in one day, i solemnly decided right now to top her- so here goes, this is my third post of the day (read. night) and there's one more coming up.

Note: In the first paragraph, all characters and names are FICTITIOUS. Resemblance to anybody or anything living or dead or existing is purely co-incidental (you wish!!). i don't keep interests in getting sued, you see.
