College jaata hua bachha!

"beta, engineering kar rahe ho? shaaabash shaaabash" and "economics? chalo achha hi hai"
It's quite amusing how different the tones of the two sentences are. But, for a science student, who undergoes the two-year grind(more so than commercies), with an MBA in mind, an engineering degree is a brilliant option.
However, interest or lack of interest supercedes the comparison of the courses. Plus, economics is no poppycock course.
*end defensive justification*
16 July 2007. The day Delhi University reopened for the new academic session. The day, I went to Hansraj College to start my under-graduation in economics, an honours course, needless to say.
The tender minds of fuchhas/freshers stepped into a new world, one entirely different from school. This world is more independent, it's further away from home, it gives more freedom. In short, the perfect recipe for academic disaster and overloading fun-o-meters(not that i'm complaining about it).
What with the whole bruhaha about ragging, and college life, I didn't know what to expect. And judging by the looks on their faces, neither did the other 30 odd people in my class. Everyone was decked up in good clothes, new red tshirt for yours truly; everyone had a register(snigger), everyone came to the alloted classroom.
AND THEN, we met our seniors..
I enjoyed it. Here were people, who'd been in the college for a year, who were friendly to us, willing to help, willing to chat, good looking, and eager to rag. and i am NOT maaroing maska. none of them even read this.
Ragging. they made ME sing, TWICE! the second time, someone was dancing to it. then i had to dance too. and swim in the air, and maaro thumkas, and a whole group of us had to write "I LOVE ECO" with our asses, in the air. It was in good spirit. The seniors and the freshers all had a good laugh. Believe me, nothing like laughter to break the ice. So now, we're friends with the seniors, who still like to ambush us at times. Have to be smart enough to slink away.

Oh studies. that's what college is for, right? Definitely not the first week.
we've just about met all our teachers now. wait, almost all our teachers. Plus, we've heard a lot about them, hehe.
Maybe, next week if we start studying, there'll be more to it.
The canteen is darn good. Fresh mausami or pineapple juice, dosa, maggi, chhola bathura, a WAITER!! also, any tiffins are always welcome.
The socializing bit is picking up pace now. Group formations are starting to take place and i shall dedicate a whole post to my group, tho they aren't into blogging. With that comes the roaming around, and the looking around, and the going to places, and the hanging around, and the sleeping in class, and eating and a whole lot of stuff.

I think I'm going to enjoy college..
